Purpose of the site

The purpose of this site is to:

  • Inform the public about medical acupuncture and auriculotherapy
  • Enable users to find an ABMA-member acupuncturist
  • Present the association's activities, training, and news
  • Provide a space reserved for members (training, documents, etc.)

The content of this site is purely for informational purposes. It does not in any way constitute personalized medical advice or a diagnosis.

Intellectual property

All elements of the site (texts, images, logos, graphics, structure, databases, etc.) are protected by copyright and belong to the ABMA or its partners.

Any reproduction, representation, modification, publication, or adaptation, in whole or in part, of the site or any of its elements, by any means whatsoever, is prohibited without prior written authorization from the ABMA.

The name "ABMA," "Association Belge des Médecins Acupuncteurs," and the logo are protected distinctive signs.

Authorized use

You agree to use the site in a fair manner and in accordance with its intended purpose. Specifically, it is prohibited to:

  • Attempting to gain unauthorized access to the member area or other users' data
  • Distributing illegal, defamatory, abusive, or offensive content

Member area and user accounts

Access to certain areas of the site (training, restricted documents, auriculotherapy courses, etc.) is reserved for members in good standing with the ABMA.

You are responsible for the confidentiality of your login credentials. Any fraudulent use of an account must be reported immediately to info@acupuncture.be.

The ABMA reserves the right to suspend or delete an account in the event of non-compliance with these terms or the association's statutes.

Directory of Acupuncturists

The directory is intended solely to facilitate connections between patients and member acupuncturists.
The ABMA does not guarantee practitioner availability or treatment outcomes.
Any therapeutic relationship is exclusively the responsibility of the physician and their patient.

Limitation of liability

The ABMA strives to ensure the accuracy and currency of the information published on the site. However:

  • The site is provided "as is."
  • The ABMA cannot be held liable for any direct or indirect damages resulting from the use or inability to use the site.
  • General medical information is in no way a substitute for a medical consultation.
  • The ABMA is not responsible for the content of external websites to which hyperlinks may point.

Hyperlinks

The site may contain links to third-party websites. These links are provided for informational purposes only. The ABMA has no control over these sites and disclaims all liability regarding their content or data protection practices.

The processing of your personal data is governed by our Privacy Policy.

Governing law and jurisdiction

These terms are governed by Belgian law.
In the event of a dispute, and failing an amicable resolution, the courts of the judicial district of Brussels shall have exclusive jurisdiction.

What data do we collect?

We only collect the data necessary for the purposes described below:

Via the contact form

  • First and last name
  • Email address
  • Phone number (optional)
  • Message content

Via newsletter subscription

  • Email address
  • (if applicable) first name / last name if provided

Via the member area / membership

  • Identification data (last name, first name, address, email, phone number)
  • INAMI number / professional details
  • Information related to membership fees and group insurance
  • Training and course participation history

Via the website (technical data)

  • IP address
  • Browser and device type
  • Pages visited and visit duration
  • Cookies (see dedicated section)

We never collect health data via the public website (any medical data related to patients is processed solely within the doctor-patient relationship, outside of this site).

Why do we collect this data?

  • Responding to your requests via the contact form
  • Sending the newsletter and information about acupuncture
  • Management of memberships and the member area
  • Organization of training and courses
  • Site improvement and traffic statistics
  • Site security and fraud prevention

How long do we keep your data?

  • Contact form : 3 years after the last contact (unless a contractual relationship follows).
  • Newsletter : until you unsubscribe (unsubscribe link included in every email).
  • Member data : for the entire duration of the membership + 10 years after it ends (Belgian accounting and legal obligations).
  • Technical data / logs : maximum 13 months.
  • Cookies : according to the duration indicated in the cookie banner (generally 6 to 13 months).

Who has access to your data?

Your data is only accessible to:

  • To members of the board and the ABMA secretariat (on a need-to-know basis)
  • To technical service providers strictly necessary for our operations (website host, transactional or newsletter email tools, form management tools)

All our processors are contractually required to comply with the GDPR (Data Processing Agreements).

We never sell your data or share it with third parties for commercial purposes.

Data transfers outside the European Union

By default, your data is hosted and processed within the European Union.
If a processor (e.g., an email or analytics tool) were to process data outside the EU, we ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place (European Commission standard contractual clauses or an adequacy decision).

Your rights

In accordance with the GDPR, you have the following rights:

  • Right of access : obtain a copy of your data
  • Right to rectification : correct inaccurate or incomplete data
  • Right to erasure ("right to be forgotten")
